The instrumental theatre workshop is a think tank for young composers, performers and dancers who accept the challenge of putting together in a very short time, a mini-production for the closing concert of each edition.
Instrumental theatre has become a presence in the minds of the Icon Arts team ever since 2005, when the event was being organised in Breaza. Over the years, directors Petru Maier-Bianu and Sorin Damian have supported us in this endeavour.
In 2007, in Cisnadioara, this challenge brought to life the “Dreamer’s Identity ” – a production bringing together the Icon Arts participants in a beautiful collaboration project, directed by Paul Sorin Damian, with music directed by Diana Gheorghiu and a choreography signed by Florin Fieroiu.
A year later, “Dreamer’s Identity” was selected by CNDB – National Dance Centre in Bucharest and AFCN – National Cultural Funds Administration and is presented as an educational programme, to draw young audiences toward contemporary performance arts. The tour was organised in high-schools in Bucharest, Orsova, Drobeta Turnu Severin and Turnu-Magurele and was of great interest to the teenagers, with record audiences.
The team behind the “Dreamer’s Identity” – 2008 performance: Alexandru Berehoi – keyboard, Alexandra Potanga Cotosman – cello, Daniel Mihai – violin, Claudiu Danciu – clarinet and dancers Oana Rasuceanu, Dana Balint, Tunde Baczo, Andreea Novac. Special guest: Matei Ulmu Damian – Electric guitar. Directed by: Paul Sorin Damian, Coreography: Florin Fieroiu, Music: Diana Gheorghiu.
